How much does a new roof cost?
This amount varies, as there are a huge variety of products with varying degrees of quality. Please ask your sales representative to explain the options.
How much deposit is required prior to beginning a job?
Kirkwood Roofing does not accept payment until your job is completed. While others may ask for a deposit, we feel that since you have trusted us with your home’s appearance and worth, we can certainly trust you to pay when the job is completed. Be wary of contractors who ask for payment before job completion.
How do I know that you are a good contractor?
Please check our status with the Better Business Bureau. Their sole purpose is to serve as a watchdog for any illegitimate business practices, bad customer care, and unprofessional actions in general. We are proud to have maintained our excellent status with the BBB.
Will my insurance cover my roof damage?
In the event your home has been damaged by a hailstorm or other natural disaster, your insurance company will meet one of our trained professionals on your roof to determine how much loss has occurred. Our sales representatives have a terrific record of finding insurance dollars for you. You will be required to pay only your deductible.
How soon can my home be roofed?
The average waiting time is two weeks, although that can vary depending on the season.
How soon can a sales representative give an estimate to me?
We guarantee that we will set an appointment with you within 24 hours of your initial call. We promise to provide prompt, professional service even in the busiest of seasons.
Do I need to be home to obtain an estimate?
Yes, please. While some roofing companies will simply leave a bid in your door for whichever type of roof they want to put on your home, we at Kirkwood Roofing would like to take 10 minutes of your time to offer you choices and explain your options. By doing this, we can afford you the best possible customer service and match you to the roof you desire.
What is a lien waiver?
Kirkwood Roofing sends a lien waiver to you immediately upon receipt of your payment for services. All reputable contractors should provide you with a written lien waiver upon receipt of your payment. This is provided to give you peace of mind that the company will never come back to you for more money or threats to lien your home.
Will nails be a safety concern?
All Kirkwood Roofing crews are required to run a magnetic roller over your yard and driveway in order to eliminate 90 percent of dropped nails.
How do I know if I need a new roof?
If your roof is leaking, have it examined immediately by a roofing professional. Ask for an estimate for the needed repair or possible re-roof. If your roof is older than 10 years old, you will want to have it inspected. They may or may not find problems, but you will have peace of mind.
What roof color should I buy?
Upon request, your roofing professional should be able to provide addresses of previous jobs so that you can see the actual product on a home. While sample boards are helpful, they can never replicate the real, finished product.
When is it time to replace your roof?
- When your roof is dark or dirty looking, this could be caused by algae or fungus, or loss of granules due to ageing shingles.
- When you see missing, cracked, or curling shingles, these shingles have reached the end of their useful life.
- If you notice a leaking attic after driving rain, it can be caused by inadequate shingle underlayment or deteriorated flashing.
- If roof shingles, sheathing, and siding decay. This is a result of poor attic ventilation.
- When you see blistering and/or peeling of the outside paint, again, due to moisture or high humidity cause by poor attic ventilation.
- If you notice stains on interior ceilings and walls, or mold and mildew growth. Usually caused by faulty shingle underlayment.
- If you have excessive energy costs, due to poor attic ventilation.
